The Trump Insurrection of 2021 took place on January 6, 2021. A mob of Trump supporters attacked and invaded the capital of the United States of America. They stormed congress, overwhelming the police and threatened Vice President Pence, and all of congress, which was counting the electoral votes from the 2020 election.
Trump told his base to come to Washington to protest the vote, to take back his supposed win (he lost). He encouraged them to use strength (violence) to take back the vote. He organized the mob with a rally (sedition meeting) in front of the White House. He incited them to violence and pointed them towards The Hill.
They listened and obeyed, committing violent acts in his name. Inside the capitol, they destroyed property, including some irreplaceable works of art. Five people died as a result of the assault. One of the mob’s own died of a gunshot wound as she tried to climb through a barricaded window. The mob killed at least one police officer and wounded about fifty.
All of this happened because poor, little Donald Trump couldn’t handle losing the 2020 presidential election. Democracy, effective governance, ethics, morals, law, behavioral norms, none of that was as important as claiming his false win.
And so he built up his mob of thuggish, loyal supporters, feeding them more and more lies until they reached a fever pitch, ready and able to do anything to honor the most dishonorable man in the world.
In the end, it’s all about character and integrity, vital attributes Donald J. Trump always lacked. He never should have been considered for president. It was so easy to see. Just give him a simple challenge, one I call the Scouting Test. How does a person stack up against the Scout Law? A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. Trump fails all twelve points, and has done so all of his adult life.
By whatever means, Trump must never hold a government office again. He was unfit when he ran for president, and he is unfit now. As president, the damage he did to the United States of America goes far beyond the Trump Insurrection of 2021. Trump has failed as a human being, and now he has failed as President. He deserves only one fate, to be completely and utterly forgotten.
